Is a minolta maxxum 2800 af flash compatible with a nikon d40?

If so, how do i get it to act as my main flash? Are there certain settings i need to use? I don't have remotes for it nor do i have any studio lighting.

No. You might get it to work on manual, but I wouldn't risk it.

I wouldn't. You can fry the electronics of your D40. Too nice a camera to risk.

NO

Minolta/Sony flashes are NOT standard ISO. The hot shoe of a Minolta/Sony camera is propriatary

You will need to use a dedicated Nikon flash like the SB400, SB700 or SB900
