I'm looking for a fairly cheap (£100-200ish, on Amazon) DSLR camera that's fairly easy to use. I have been looking for a camera for ages but haven't seem to have found the right one. I want some kind of video recording on it too. I'm probably asking way too much, but I've looked at a few, such as the Nikon D3100 and the Canon SX 40 HS. Does anyone recommend these or have any other suggestions of cameras that are similar to these?

I guess first things first.

The Nikon D3100 is a digital SLR. The Canon SX 40 HS is NOT a digital SLR. The closest thing to the Nikon D3100 would be the Canon T3.

Finding ANY digital SLR for under $400 will be a chore unless you look for a good used one. A refurbished Nikon D3200 will cost you $399 from Nikon's store. I'm sure that Amazon has similar deals on refurbished digital SLR cameras. See link below

If you are willing to buy a used digital SLR, KEH.com has some for sale with a 30 day warranty in most cases

The Canon SX 40HS isn't a DSLR.

The Nikon is fine for what you're describing, and so is a close Canon equivalent the T1i (500D). BTW, the Nikon released almost 5 years ago, and the Canon almost 6… They're discontinued.

The Canon SX 40 HS is not a DSLR it is a bridge camera.
You will not get a new DSLR for Under £200, youn need to add another £100 or so to your budget

The camera for you is the Fujifilm S4800. Not only does it have the camera controls for when you are ready, but it can shoot in fully automatic mode for now. It has what I consider an essential feature that many other cameras don't have and that is a viewfinder. Plus it shoots HD video and zooms 30x. And all this for around $150.
