HOYA HMC TELE-AUTO F400mm 1:5.6 LENS will it fit with converter?

Will this lens fit with my nikon d3100 if i buy a converter? And what converter should I buy if it does fit?

Boga does not make lenses. You're reading from the protective 1a filter.

Depends what mount it has. Do you know what camera it has been used on?

It is not a Hoya lens, as pointed out above, that is the filter on the front of the lens.

You need to find out what mount the lens has now. If it is an Adaptall lens, it will work. If it is anything else, there's no way to answer the question without knowing the actual mount of the lens. Some can be adapted, some can't.

Your camera uses Nikkor AF-S and AF-I lenses if you want auto-focus

If you do not mind manually focusing lenses, any of the Nikkor AF lenses will work.

Any other lenses, you will have to manually focused and use an external light meter.

I see that there are NO HOYA HMC TELE-AUTO F400mm 1:5.6 lenses made for Nikon F-mount cameras. IF you can find a converter for that lens, it will probably not focus on infinity. Which mount does this lens have? Canon FD, Konica AR?

I can understand you wanting a lot of lens lenght without spending the money you need to buy a Nikkor 400 mm lens, but there's a point where you have to just save your pennies and by a lens that does work on your camera

This lens is really old lens, and even though it's a Hoya, it's not going to live up to modern standards. The only way to find out what mount the lens is will be to ask the seller as it could be one of several!

Unusual lens, these were made in a number of different lens mounts, for the big manufacturers. It was also marketed by Tokina. There should be a Nikon AI/AI-S mount version of this lens which will fit your D3100, however you will not have metering and would need to guess exposure in manual mode.

If it comes in the FD, K, MD, or OM forms, this lens would not be compatible, and no adapter exists that gives any semblance of satisfactory function.

Practically, if you need 400mm on a D3100, you do need to shell out for a CPU lens (i.e.AI-P or newer), as it's hard enough to deal with the manual focus on these super tele lenses, to then have to guess your exposure too.
