How to turn OFF the flash in manual mode on a nikon D3000?

So for some reason, my camera thinks it needs a flash… But I'm using in in "M" manual mode - manual exposure, aperture and focus. So i go to take the picture when I have all the settings right and the flash goes! When I push the i or + magnifying glass button and go down to the flash area, I can't turn it off. I only have options 1) flash, 2) Flash redeye 3) Flash rear. NO FLASH OFF! How do i turn it off completely?

Leave the flash hood - down?

If the hood keeps popping up, hold it down with your finger, however, read your owners manual!
