How to put an attachment on my Nikon d3200?

I bought a Vivitar 0.43x Wide Angle Lens to attach to lens of my Nikon D3200. Before I bought it, I did some research and was under the impression I was getting the right product for my camera, but when I received vivtar attachment, it was too big. I keep researching but I can't find what I did wrong. From what I have found, I got the right product. Am I putting the attachment on wrong or what?

Since you neglected to tell us the lens you have I'll guess that its the usual 18-55mm zoom which requires 52mm diameter filters.

In all honesty you should return what you bought and request a refund. 99.9% of those so-called 0.43x Wide Angle attachments are of poor optical quality and not worth the loss of image quality.

You have to match the diameter of the lens you are attaching the Vivitar to. IOW, if the lens has a 62mm diameter, you have to have a 62mm Vivitar lens. This can be overcome with a step up/down ring, such as one of these.

The Vivitar will have a diameter. Your lens will have a diameter (usually found on the front of the lens). You need a step up/down ring that has those two diameters, such as 62-77mm.
