How to fix my Nikon lens? - 1
I have the Nikon D3000. My mom accidentally dropped the camera and now one of the flat small bars on the bottom that holds the lens to the camera broke and only half of it is left on. Is there any quick fix i can use? I'm going away in a day and I'll need to use the camera. Any advice? I'd like to avoid taking it to a repair shop.
You can't avoid a shop… You need professional help. Either that or replace the lens.
You've no choice - contact Nikon for your nearest repair centre.
This is a precision instrument which doesn't take well to being dropped, and your mother will take more care in future when she sees the repair bill.
Super glue? Duct tape? You can't home fix a broken lens. That's why they come with neck straps.
There's only one solution: Send the lens in for repairs because you don't have the proper tools or knowledge to fix the problem.
The mount of your lens is plastic and is held on by small screws. Replacement mounts are available. Check around for a local camera store (an actual camera store, not a department store that sells cameras), if they handle Nikons they may be able to replace the mount in short order for not much money.
Does everything work? Get a small tube of silicon glue and use that to stick the lens to the body for the time being. When you already have time or after the lens (and camera) falls again, bring everything at once back to the store you bought it from and ask for servicing.
I'm guessing after you glue the lens to the mount, the camera won't work. Dropping a camera at half a foot high can already do some serious damage.
