How to adjust shutter speed on nikon?

Nikon D3100

i can only get it to go to 1/200.it says it should go up to around 1/5000.haha, Help?

The highest flash sync shutter speed is 1/200'th of a second. Push the flash down and you should be able to go all the way up to the maximum

Try reading the instructions that came with the camera.

By the way, if you have it on an auto mode you will only be able to adjust shutter speed so far. Learn to shoot on manual, then YOU tell the camera what to do instead of the other way around.

What the first guy said, also i believe the max is 1/4000 as said on the manual from the nikon website. Oh and hi again

Turn the dial to either M or S… Then you can change the shutter speed
