It's still a very popular camera. I wouldn't expect much decrease in cost.

Look at the price of D90. D7000 is even more popular, won't be decrease too much.

Generally when a camera goes out of production, but still has stock - the price goes down a bit and stays there. After all, no one would be buying the D7100 if the D7000 was significantly less expensive. By the time the camera gets a hefty discount - it will be several years old (look at he D7100, D7000, D90 price differences).

But, sometimes cameras do go on sale around the holidays. I recall that the D7100 went on sale for $800 at Amazon.Com on Black Friday 2013, which was unheard of. The sale lasted about an hour or until the few units that were available were sold.

The problem is, you can't depend on these sales, and when they happen, you have to be in the right place at the right time.

So there's the issue. Do you want to wait 10 months for a camera that you may or may not be able to get a deal on? Or do you want to take photos for those 10 months?
