How to find the shutter count on a Nikon D40?

I bought one for extremely cheap (130 for a full kit) at a yard sale and don't really know how to use it

If it works properly, good find. Upload an unedited SOOC (straight out of camera) JPEG to www.myshuttercount.com Tell us what it is after you find out, I'm curious.

I have a D40 and I've found that on my camera, the filename is the shutter count. Have you looked there yet?

Take a picture in JPEG format and use a program called Opanda to view the EXIF data in the picture. The shutter count is part of the EXIF data.
