You may have seen my post last night about buying a new camera. I'm looking into the d3200 body only. I would love to get a pro lens but not sure what i really have to look for! I just need one about 18-55. I had a pro lens in the past and it was a 55-200 or something. Not what i need. I need something closer. But i'm not sure on all he name terms lol i would like the cheapest ones as its just for home and hobbie. But i'm over the silly kit lenses.

Added (1). Wondering if this one is any good?

I work as a photographer and use both canon and nikon but i don't believe you can get a pro-lens for that camera or a Pro lens that would work with that camera. You usually need a pro-body or a semi-pro body for a professional lens to work on a camera. I also believe 55-200 is a kit lens as the focal length sounds way to large for a professional zoom lens.

If you're looking at a pro-lens though it probably going to cost you about $2000 and upwards

The link you provide is just a standard prime lens which you might be able to get in a kit, it's a good lens for a hobbyist but you don't have the option to zoom which really limits what you will be able to use it for if it's just for home and for a hobby… I would suggest a standard zoom lens as it reall give you functionality

While I'm not usually all that keen on Sigma, their 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM is probably the best high end mid-zoom DX lens for a cropped camera. It beats both Nikon's 17-55mm f/2.8 and Canon's 17-55mm f/2.8 in both DxOMark and field testing.

The good news is the lens is $600, which is half of what the Nikon lens costs.
