Does the canon t3i video work with the windows movie maker editing software?

I either want to get the canon eos rebel t3 or the Nikon D3100. They are both in my budget and great cameras from what I have read. But I have been leaning towards the canon. I want to make videos and take pictures with the camera but I heard that windows movie maker doesn't work with the canon rebel t3 videos. Is this true? Windows Movie Maker is the only editing software that I have because I do not own a mac. What should I do?
