No. You can start and stop videos, but you can't pause. Each time you start and stop, you create a separate video file. However, these separate files can easily be combined in your video editing software. No problem. Of course. No, once you press record it goes on forever… Until the end of the universe. That feature is common with digital camcorders.

The D3200 is a digital camera which was made primarily to take still shots. Don't expect that feature on them. I don't know why you would want to pause a video.

If nothing else it will just use battery power with no productive results and if you were to leave the camera on too long, it will eventually cause the sensor to overheat and shot off.

When shooting video, you need to use a script and when shooting scripts, you will be taking more than one take of each scene, especially if you are using any talent, experienced or not No, but the sensor will overheat and shut the camera down at regular intervals.

If you want video and stills, the Sony SLT A-58 is a better camera than the D3200 will ever be (autofocus during video, shooting video through the viewfinder).

If you just want video, you'd be better served with a camcorder. No everytime to pause/stop it makes a new file. No.
