All AF and AF-S lenses work with the D300.
If you have a D3000, only AF-S lenses will work with that camera which means it will work with the lens you question.

Yeah it will work, give it a try and You must also get LEO Privacy Guard v 3.1.2 so as to hide your edited images and also there's lot of security features which could be very useful for you.
