Do Nikon D60 lenses fit on the Nikon D3100?

Jammy17
I'm interested in purchasing a Nikon D3100 and I was hoping to share lenses with a friend who has the Nikon D60. Will his lenses work on the Nikon D3100?

Yes they will - any AF-S lenses he has will autofocus on your D3100. If he has AF lenses, they will fit & meter correctly but will be manual focus only.
This is because a D3100 does not have a focus motor built into the body of the camera, so in order to achieve autofocus, the LENS has to have a focus motor.AF-S lenses have focus motors.
