Digital SLR Nikon D3100?

How good is the Nikon D3100 for an amuture photographer? It's the Nikon D3100 + 18-55mm Lens + 8GB SD Card + Tripod and Adobe Lightroom 4 for around £330.00
How good is the camera, or are there any others around the same price which are better?

Nothing better, no, although the Canon EOS 1100D might be a match.

The camera isn't bad, even for someone who can spell, 'Amateur,' but the tripod won't be worth spitting on.

That seems to be a good price, especially since it includes Lightroom 4

It's a great photographic tool, limited only by the lenses you add and the photographer's skill.
