Cinema lens for both cameras?

I currently have a Nikon D3100 for taking pictures but i'm planning on getting the Eos Rebel Canon T5i… However i do not have one yet, but i really want to get a Cinema lens. Are there cinema lenses that would be able to work on both for the time being, until i primarily switch over to the new camera when i get it for filming?

You're talking about dSLR's. Canon lenses is for Canon while Nikon lenses is for Nikon. No interchanging. You already have a nice camera for taking pictures. If you want to add video capability to your arsenal, get a Sony Handycam. It has longer shooting times and better autofocus ability than any dSLR.

The T5i is no better for video than the D3100! You are wasting your money.
Upgrade your Nikon lenses to improve your image quality.

2. They can shoot video, but if you want to shoot video you're far better off getting a dedicated video camera. Use the correct tool for the job.

What exactly do you think that the Canon T5i will do when shooting video that the D3100 can't?

Have you done enough research to understand what cine lenses cost, which you will need to shoot your scripts and what other accessories you will need to make ANY digital SLR into a viable video camera?

Do you know why cine lenses have t/stops instead of f/stops? Will you be using an incident lightmeter to read the lighting of each of your scenes?

I have listed a couple of links that should help you understand that shooting scripts is NOT only about the camera you use, but how you block your scenes, direct your actors, light your scenes and choose the proper camera angles and lenses for each scene.

There are many more such Youtube and Vimeo tutorials you may want to view before you chuck your D3100 and buy a whole new system. There's much for you to learn about shooting videos from scripts before you decide which video camera system you will be using.

Changing systems won't make your videos any better.

Sony's SLTs are better for video than any true DSLR, but only intelligent people have heard of them. You've bought into Nikon, so concentrate on learning to do what you want with what you've got.
