They're at the same price point
I'll be doing 50% video and 50% photo
Leaning towards the canon for the super simple touch screen and quiet autofocusing

Yikes!

I can't imagine having a touch screen on my dSLR. That is all I need, my cheek changing my camera settings in the middle of an assignment.

Did you look at the performance of the two cameras sensors?

You may want to do that before buying either camera

BTW. The Nikon camera that is positioned next to the Canon 650D is the Nikon D5200.

What you need to know if you intend to use a dSLR camera to shoot video.

And before you listen to any of our advice please go and check both cameras on yourself and see which one feels better for.

Go to canon with blind eyes and have the better experience.

Find a dealer and handle them - I'd suggest looking at the Pentax K-30 and Sony A-59 while you're at it.
