Nikon SLR Cameras

Canon 1100D, Nikon D3100, Pentax K-r?

Which of the three would be the best? Going to film some stuff, make pictures, normal stuff. Also, what lens would you recommend? I'm thinking 18-135mm would be nice.

Canon - I like the looks, but the grip is plastic…
Nikon - I read that lenses and stuff are expensive and only Nikon lens supported.
Pentax - A camera shop told me that it's ahead of other cameras. But I'm not so into the looks.

Also, does it matter if Canon only has 6400 ISO? As I read that 12800+ is useless. I can't decide.

Canon: Good point, it is plastic-fantastic
Nikon: You read wrong on both accounts. I recently did a comparison of 10 lenses a beginner to intermediate is likely to buy and there was very little difference
Pentax: It is a very fine camera. Not to sure about video.

If you are still in the stage looks matter then get the one that makes th ebest fashion statement.

I have two Canon dslr cameras and both bodies are of space age plastic - which means they're very tough and almost indestructible. Trust me, this material will stand up use for many years to come.

So far Canon and Nikon are the only two brands chosen by professionals world wide for many good reasons. They have a long reputation for high quality and longevity. You can't go wrong with either of these two brands. Pentax… I don't trust them but that's just me.

Buying a camera based on how it looks is a bit silly.

The problem right now is that you read things online from people that have no clue about what they're talking about. Nikon's lenses aren't more expensive, and it supports many other companies too - Sigma, Tokina, Tamron and more. Just like Canon and Pentax.

Pentax K-r is a bit better, because they're not that famous (but just as old).It does matter what ISO it has, the higher you can go and if noise is acceptable, the easier you can shoot in low light.

I'd not get he 1100D considering you have enough money to get those two.
