Nikon D3200 24.2MP DSLR Camera with AF-S DX 18-55mm VR Lens Kit $480 CDN, Canon EOS Rebel T3i 18MP Digital SLR with EF-S 18-55mm & EF 75-300mm Lens Kit and DSLR Bag for $600 CDN. I like to take still shot and videos. One of my friends has the T3i with the same lenses so I will try out that camera. If you have any other entry level DSLRs in my budget (400-700) tell me them.

Don't dismiss the Pentax K-500 or Sony A-58 either, yet.

The best camera is the one that feels right in your hands, so find a dealer and work it out for yourself.

Nikon D3300 is our now and will give you same image quality as Nikon D5300 since both shares same sensor and no-optical low-pass filter

Yes Nikon D3200 is a excellent camera and its low-light performance is better than Canon 600D. Go for Nikon D3200

If you stick to Canon and Nikon you get a broad range of AF-S DX and EF-S format lenses to choose from.

After buying the new camera you will need some advice on lenses - see source

If you happen to find a Pentax K-30, blue or otherwise, grab it! If none, a Pentax K-50 in gold and yellow (or just plain black if you want passe), or the cheaper K-500 would be great.

Skip the bundle with the cheapo 75-300mm lens. Save the money towards getting a better telephoto later.

Well yes get a Canon. Why? Because Canon's button layout is more simple than Nikon's. Nikon's button are everywhere. Canon shares some of their buttons. Nikon has button for every action… So Canon is more simple.

Look if you ask any photographer
LENS> CAMERA

GUESS WHAT MOST CANON MAKES BETTER LENS THAN NIKON (sadly ONLY Canon "L" lens are better than Nikon's. L stands for luxurious)
these L lens are about $800 and up.
The other cheaper Canon lens model are about same quality as Nikon's

ONLY the Canon L lens are sharper, have weather resistent and made of metal. Yes it has fastautofocus too but lower end models also have fast autofocusing too.

I'm gonna laugh at you if you brag about your Canon 18-55mm being better than Nikon's 18-55mm. Haha.

I know you can't afford these "L" lens but when you get into photography, you'll afford them someday. Patience my friend.

Well you can get a Nikon but ONLY if you're doing portraits and like advertisements but other than that, get a Canon
