Are these dslr cases really waterproof?

I'm planning on buying the nikon d3200 this summer. I would like to take some underwater photos so I would like to buy a waterproof case. Do you think this one is safe? I really wouldn't like to destroy my camera as soon as I buy it. Thank you in advance. Here is the link to the case: http://www.amazon.com/...00DR97XQU/

Where on earth did you get the idea that a dSLR was waterproof?

NO dSLR is waterproof unless you place them in a special underwater housing. And special housings cost closer to $1,000 or more.

Trusting a less than $30 cover to protect your D3200 is foolish if you have any experience diving with a camera or have done any research on underwater housings.

Look at Ikelite, Aquatech, Optical Ocean Nauticam and Sea & Sea housings and you will see the vast differences between such housings.

I might use such cover if I was working in heavy rain.

This is a good reason to not believe everything you see about camera gear. AVOID any camera accessory that has the word "Pro" in them… Pros know which accessories provide the quality and sturdiness necessary to last for decades or longer and buy them

If you want to dive with a camera, use the $110 Nikon S31, waterproof, shock proof and dust proof camera and use your fine D3200 camera away from water

The item in your link… Isn't something I would recommend… Firstly I would need to know a bit about the person who was going to be using it… You just know sometimes when things aren't going to work out right. I'm not saying it wouldn't be worthwhile experimenting with for someone that is 'switched on' (sensible) for a kid though that has unrealistic expectations it's a direct route to disaster.

Here is the proper underwater housing for your camera, if you compare the prices of both items in the links… You'll get a much better idea of the amount of risk that is involved with the item in your link…

Even if it doesn't leak, it looks like a waste of money.
It does not look like it has an optical glass window, so even if you could ever get it to take a picture, it would probably be a blur.
Not that you are very likely to ever get it to do that, with the buttons being very difficult at best to push through the bag.
And not while actually diving, because with no way to attach counterweights it is likely to have a positive buoyancy that will be fighting your attempt to dive with it.
