About the Nikon d3200 and color?

For some reason, the colors look too green. Anyone else notice this?

On the camera's back screen or on your computer?

If it's the camera's back screen (the LCD), Nikon have had an issue with this for some time now; the pictures look greenish on the LCD, but are fine on a computer. Update your firmware to the most recent version and see if that makes a difference.

If they look too green on your computer, it could be that you've accidentally tweaked the colour settings, you monitor is not calibrated properly, or a number of other things. Going by your description, though, I'm guessing that it's the standard Nikon green LCD problem.

One of the ways that images will look green is when you are shooting under fluorescent lighting, but have the cameras white balance set to full sun or in auto white balance.

Most digital cameras will render better colour if the white balance is set to match the lighting in the scene.

In the case of the D3200, you have the following choices found on pages 69 through 72 of your user manual.

While some of the time, auto white balance may work, it is always better to tell your camera what kind of light is lighting your scene or shoot in RAW.

NOTE: Larry mentions the "standard Nikon green LCD problem". This is the first I have heard about such a thing and I have been using Nikon dSLR cameras since 2002 and have many colleagues who also use Nikon systems… Not a peep from them about such a "problem":

And yes, you do need to calibrate and profile your computer monitor about every four weeks or so, using a monitor calibration tool like those sold by Xrite if you want your images to be spot on when it comes to colour.

Try taking photos in different lighting conditions. Is the color always too green, in all lighting conditions? You may have accidently changed the White Balance setting in your camera's Menu. It should be set to Auto for most purposes.

At least one other person says the D3200 screen has a green tint.
