Will a 52mm Filter fit into my Nikon D5100 18-55mm lens?

I have just got the Nikon D5100 with 18-55 Lens so I'm new to this stuff, I'm planning to get some filters for my camera soon, I've saw some filters which says that this filter is compatible with any 52mm size Lens Filter thread, and I really don't know if this filter will fit into my camera or not. Could you help me?

Your Nikon 18-55mm zoom lens requires 52mm diameter filters.

There are really only two filters you need:

1) Either a Haze/UV filter or a Skylight filter to protect the front element of the lens.

2) A circular polarizer. This filter removes/reduces glare/reflections from water, sand, glass, snow and painted metal - but not polished metal. Its also used to darken a blue sky. It also enhances colors.

Do NOT waste your money on cheap no-name filters. Buy from B+W, Tiffen, Hoya, Heliopan. I have Tiffen and Hoya filters that are over 40 years old and still use them.

Look at the lens - your filter diameter is marked there, theta (0 with a line through it) and a value in mm.
