What are good DSLR cameras under $500 with an external mic and flip out screen?
I'm looking for a great DSLR camera that has a flip out screen and an external mic jack for under $500, I've already looked at the Nikon D5100 which is good but I just want to make sure and compare some more. I don't care which brand, thaks.

The Sony a37 with 18-55mm lens is going for $498 ($100 off) until the end of the month. This is a manufacturer's sale that should be present in all retail outlets, but I know Amazon has it for sure. The Sony SLTs are the best for video because their translucent fixed mirror allows them to behave exactly like a video camera, whereas the flipping mirror in DSLRs has some severe limitations in video such as inability to use the viewfinder while recording. Sony also sells an external mic specifically made for their alpha cameras. It doesn't have a flip out screen, but it does have a screen that tilts and swivels which is just as functional.
