I find that my camera produces a lot of noise even in light conditions, i've tried different iso's and nothing seems to help it.

Changing your ISO will not make any more or less noise

A dSLR will make noise when:

* the mirror moves out of the way when you take your shots
* if your lens is a VR lens, it will make some noise while the VR stabilizes the image.

That's it. Unless you have dropped the camera or banged is hard against something, those are to only sounds your camera will be making.

"noise" as in "grainy video" (hence your reference to changing ISO) means not enough light.

Resolution: Add light.

Also, remember that dSLRs are designed to capture still images. Under poor lighting conditions, use of a flash is the resolution. Video capture by dSLRs is a "convenience feature". What is "enough light" to you may not be enough light to the camera. Add light. If the final product is to be dark, then learn about "shooting day for night" and apply that editing technique.

Are you talking about digital noise caused by using a high ISO (visual noise) or noise caused by the lens focusing or noise from the VR working (audible noise)?

If your complaint is visual noise then invest in a couple of fast prime lenses such as the AF-S Nikkor 28mm f1.8G or the AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f1.8G or the AF-S Nikkor 50mm f1.8. Either of these lenses will allow use of a lower ISO.No, prime lenses don't zoom so you'll have to learn to "zoom" the way we did before zoom lenses were invented - step closer to get less in the scene or step back to get more in the scene.

If your complaint is audible noise then invest in an external microphone for your camera. That's why it has a microphone jack.

If you believe you can't possibly do the videos you want to do without a zoom lens then buy the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f2.8 lens. Its a constant f2.8 from 17mm to 55mm which will greatly improve your low-light videos.
