Nikon d5000 won't show picture for photographing after using it for video?

Its been fine for video but its just info etc thats on the screen and won't show me what i'm trying to shoot for a photo.

Normally, a DSLR will not show what you're shooting on the LCD screen -- you look through the viewfinder instead. If you enable "live view" it will then lock the camera's mirror up, and show a "live view" on the LCD screen. That's *not* the best way to shoot stills with a DSLR -- use the viewfinder.

why doesn't the picture that I take on my Nikon d5000 show on the screen after I shoot it. The screen just shows "saved photos" plus a calendar
