My Nikon D60 flash won't work

The built in flash on my nikon d60 won't work. The camera is on auto and when I go to take a photo, the flash does pop up but it won't flash when the photo is taken. I don't want to send my camera into Nikon if I can help it.

What's the age of your camera? Could be the flash bulb has gone - it happens especially after extended use.
Check with a local photo shop about repairs.

Is this a recent problem?
Do you use the flash for much of your photography?
Flash bulbs have a finite life. If you really shoot a lot using flash, look into buying a nice Nikon SB400. That will solve your problem and probably cost less than having your on-board flash repaired
