Is there any video editing software not compatible with a Nikon camera?

I'm thinking of getting the Nikon D5100 as my first DSLR camera to do my film and media AS level work on, because the cameras in my college aren't brilliant. My first piece is for Film Studies and needs doing in December, I have to create a film. However we have to do the editing in college after Christmas. So before I go buying the camera I have to make sure it works with all types of editing software (so I can edit at home as well as in college, for when I make my new YouTube videos) so is there any out there, that are not able to work for Nikon cameras?
