Is the Canon 7D a big enough upgrade from the Nikon D90?

I just got my D90 almost 6 months ago, but now this amazing offer for a 7D comes along. I'm not sold on either Nikon or Canon… I have honestly never tried out a Canon, but I kept thinking maybe the next time I ungraded it would be a Canon. So, what I'm wondering is, is it worth it to upgrade to the 7D, or should I wait a few years, then upgrade to say, the Canon EOS-1D X, or something of the sort?

Well if you compare sensors using DxOMark, you will see that the 7D is inferior to the D90.

The D90 exceeds the 7D in all ratings in DxOMark, including Color Depth, Dynamic Range, and Low Light capability.

The 7D has a smaller sensor than the D90, and cramming 18Mp into a small sensor reduces the low light capability.

NO

AWBoater is right

The big upgrade would be to the Nikon D7100

Switching camera systems is not a good idea unless you gain resolution and sensor performance
