How to use the self-timer on Nikon D5000?

First of all, here's the manual for you. Look on page 65.

1 Place the cursor in the information display. If shooting information is not displayed in the monitor, press the R button. Press the P button to place the cursor in the information display.
2. Display release mode options. Highlight the current release mode in the info display & press (ok)
3 Choose a release mode. Highlight the Self-Timer option and press (ok).

Go through the men on the camera until you come to self-timer setting.
