How to shoot without red-eye effect?

I have Nikon D90 and SB800 flash light, are there specific settings to avoid red-eye effect?

We used to stick the flash on a bracket to move it further from the lens axis.

Try a pre-flash first, or invest in a bracket and an off-camera cable.

It's part of nature. I don't worry about it and fix it in my photo editor.
