How to get into video mode with my nikon d50 camera?

It has neither video mode nor live view.

Trade it towards a Rebel T2i / 550D

Use the cash raised by selling it towards buying a camera with video facility.

It doesn't have video mode.

The first dSLR EVER to have video was the Nikon D90, introduced three and a half years after your fine D50 was introduced.
Something tells me you made some assumptions when you bought the D50.
Take a look on this link and see which Nikon dSLR's have video and when you are ready to upgrade in a few years, you can get one with the video feature if that is what you really want
