1080p is what is called Full HD video and has only been around for a few year, much later than the introduction of the D90 and first dSLR to have a video feature.

The first Nikon dSLR to have Full HD video was the Nikon D3100, followed by the Nikon D7000. The newest Full HD dSLR made by Nikon is the D5100.
