Do you like my pictures - nikon 50mm lens?

Just bought a Nikon 50mm 1.8d lens, and these are a few snaps from today.

These are from the ancient Nikon D70 which I bought second hand. Let me know what you think? Are the colours good and is the sharpness OK to you? Shot with RAW and increased vibrance and saturation in Camera RAW. Thanks for the feedback. I'm just a beginner learning about photography.

When i look at them i wonder why you took the picture. I see no reason why these trees were captured in the first place. When you take a picture you need to have a good subject, something that a viewer will look at and understand that you took that picture for a specific reason. In lamens terms these are just random snapshots that mean nothing really.

I somewhat agree. The pics don't really mean anything. I think if you color graded a few of them then it would add a mood to it. But with the regular color they look plain.

But it looks like you did a good job of getting the aperature iso and shutter speed right

I applaud your effort in shooting in RAW. That being said, it doesn't help at all that you're taking pictures of boring old trees, no matter how much you punch up the vibrancy. You didn't have to shoot in RAW for these at all.

In fact, you're using the 50mm on the wrong subject. A 50mm is best used when you want to isolate your subject from your background with a shallow depth of field (that lovely blur you find in portraits).

Try taking photos of people, or if you're not ready for those, pets (if you have any), flowers, or any nick-knacks you find in your house. You have to start somewhere.

I'd advice you to concentrate on composition first, before anything else. And find something interesting to take pictures of.

I'm thinking you are not seeking to take any kind of "meaningful" photos here, just some shots to test the lens and your RAW conversion efforts.Am I correct? If that is the case, then I think the photos look fine. Sharpness looks good without being over the top, as does color. I don't notice any purple fringing around the tree limbs. Actually, taking photos of bare trees against the sky is a very good test of a lens / sensor. If there's going to be fringing, it will show up there. I don't see any, but that may be because the photos are not full size and resolution. Still, I think the lens / camera combo looks very good.
