A Nikon/Canon DSLR or a Sony SLT for photo and video use?

I haven't used a DSLR before, but since I'm a fast learner and since I need a camera that is versatile enough to capture excellent photos as well as record sharp video, I'm considering investing in one. I have heard suggestions on purchasing the Nikon D5100, as well as a Sony SLT. What's the difference between DSLRs and SLTs?

Sony's SLTs get around the dim viewfinder problems of the pellicle (fixed) mirror by incorporating an electronic viewfinder. They're better for video than any DSLR.

Fast learner? DSLR and photography? Haha!

Anywho, for video, the SLT is better. Sony has been making video cameras long before Canon and Nikon started making dSLR's. SLT's have better focusing when it comes to video. Better yet would be a digital camcorder. Even the cheap ones from Sony will do better than a dSLR.
