Nikon DSLR Consumer Cameras

Life gives us precious moments. All of us want to immortalize them to keep as a souvenir for years. Nikon DSLR cameras perfectly serve this purpose.

DSLR cameras are far more expensive than conventional digital compact cameras. But they provide far better photo quality than even the best compact cameras. Affordable models for amateur photographers include those of Entry-Level, Upper-Entry-Level and Midrange. Here are their typical representatives: Nikon D5100 (Upper-Entry-Level) and Nikon D7000 (Midrange).

What features does Nikon D5100 offer to a consumer? First of all, the main component of the device is a brand-name 16.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor. Image processing engine EXPEED 2 plays a key role in high device performance carrying out such functions as noise reduction, advanced color reproduction, quick image processing and others.

Nikon D5100 supports a wide range of ISO sensitivities: from 100 to 6400. This number can be increased up to 25600. Taking a photo at high ISO sensitivities in poor light conditions is fraught with much undesirable noise. But the device sensor perfectly copes with the problem. The camera features such useful program options as Scene Modes (16 modes), Scene Auto Selector, High Dynamic Range, 11-point AF system, a great variety of Effects and many other functions.

Nikon D7000 features the same image sensor, processor and ISO sensitivities as Nikon D5100. But D7000 is a step up towards professional cameras thanks to its richer functional. AF system features 39 focus points, there are 9 cross-type sensors located in the center of the frame. An optimized Scene Recognition System notable for enhanced accuracy is provided by 2,016-pixel RGB sensor.

Nikon D7000 offers a function called "D-Lighting" that makes photos look more realistic. "D-Movie" function allows recording Full HD (1,920×1,080, 24p) video which can be dubbed with the help of an external stereo microphone. A glass pentaprism view finder provides about 100% frame coverage and 0.94x high-magnification.

The prices of Nikon D5100 and D7000 are about $800 and $1000 correspondingly.
