I agree with Andrew on one point… The 18-55 does work. Your problem is the lens and knowing how to use it when converted.
Second I disagree with Andrew about shooting video with a dslr. Apparently he's not done it so he really has no clue. I shoot all my You Tube and client video with my t3i and it works very, very well. Get a proper lens for your camera and you'll see the difference straight away.
