All dSLR cameras need a lens to capture photos.

What exactly did you have in mind? Just buying the camera body? That would be like buying an engine without the rest of the car

The real answer is no.

Light bounces off objects in all directions. The purpose of the lens is to accurately focus light onto the digital sensor.

You need a lens to get good image quality in terms of sharp focus, good color saturation etc.

You need a lens
Application of a little very simple logic answers this question.
! Why would EVERY point and shoot camera on the planet have a lens if they could save money by not having one.
2 Why would anyone spend hundreds or thousands of £$€ on lenses for a DSLR if you didn't need one.

The camera needs a lens to take pictures with it. It can be bought as body-only because some people already have lenses or know what they are doing when selecting lenses other than one of their kit lenses.
