Can i put a teleconverter in front of a tmount on a telescope? - 1

Basically instead of using just a tmount to attach my nikon dslr to a telescope would i be able to put a 2x teleconverter infront of the t mount?

IF, and it is a big if, you have enough focuser travel. And you'll probably need a 2" teleconverter/barlow. But I'm not an expert. Here are a couple of places to inquire further:

No. You could place the teleconverter between the camera and the T-mount because it has the appropriate bayonet mounts. You can get the same effect by placing a Barlow lens between the T-mount and the telescope, because it will have the right size barrels. Optically a Barlow lens and a teleconverter are very similar, a powerful negative lens, but each has different mounts which determine where they fit in the optical train:
Telescope: Barlow-lens: T-mount: teleconv…
You could probably put both in there like that, but it would probably give way too much magnification, at least 4x.

If it will fit then try it. What have you got to loose? If it doesn't work, then it doesn't work!
