I bought a Olympus 50mm f/1.8 F.Zuiko prime lens and I can't find an adapter that connects to my Nikon f mount camera?

That is because there are none

Why would you buy a lens which is not made for your specific cameras? My first guess is that the lens cost less than a Nikkor 50 mm f/1.8 lens (although they can be found used for under $100)

The Nikon camera has a specific distance from the focal plane of the camera to the lens mounting flange

That distance is much larger than the focal plane to lens mounting flange of Olympus cameras. What this means is, if you did find or fabricate such an adapter, the lens would NOT focus, except at a very close range to the lens/camera (similar to adding a lens extension tube to lens under normal conditions)

Your question shows that you may want to learn more about the fundamentals of photography and the way camera gear is interdependent. The basic rule is that if you need a lens to fit your Nikon, you either buy Nikkor lenses or third party lenses which have a Nikon mount

All you can do now is return the Olympus lens and look for one that fits your Nikon

NOTE: You should also know that any auto features (autofocus and auto aperture) found on the Olympus lens would NOT be operational when mounted to a different brand camera body.

Instead of trying to find an adapter,
you should find a lens like it that was originally made to fit Nikon cameras.

The Zuiko 50/1.8 is a GREAT lens and very inexpensive, so I can certainly understand why you'd want to use it. However, the OM and F mount just don't play well together. They are completely different diameters and distances from glass to the focal plane.

OM lenses and cameras are super compact but Nikon F lenses and bodies have never been known for, or were originally designed to be small.

If you are a film shooter, the Olympus OM-1 is a phonomenal camera that will work perfectly with your lens and can be had for around $100 in good shape. The outfit will be much smaller than any other Nikon SLR worth using!

If you are a digital shooter, it's not going to be worth buying a multi-hundred+ dollar camera in order to use a $25 lens. You might enjoy experimenting with freelensing though. Take the lens off your DSLR and hold the OM lens in front of the camera. Cup your hand around the lens mount to prevent light from getting in between the lens and body. Play with various settings and methods of holding the lens to get interesting macro, tilt/shift effects on your images.

Happy shooting and please be kind enough to choose a best answer!

When all else fail, there's duct tape and super glue. Wink-wink!

The Nikon 50mm f/1.8 D is just $70 secondhand. Sell the Olympus then use the money to get the Nikon version. If you want a cheap but brand new 50mm, look at YongNuo. Get the one with a Nikon mount.

It probably needs to be a standard statement at the top of the Photography and Camera categories:

Never buy a lens that is not MADE TO FIT YOUR CAMERA.

Simple as that.

You don't need adapter's.
Just buy a Olympus camera and will be ok.

Most of the time the adapters do not work the electronics, so you would have to go to manual mode for focusing and exposure.

You won't find an adaoptor which makes that lens work well on any camera other than an Olympus. That applies generally. Only buy lenses intended for your camera body.

Adaptors are expensive, they do not give full lens functions, and they give degraded image quality.

I really fail to understand why anybody would buy a lens knowing that it will not work directly on the camera which they already possess. That whole idea is totally ridiculous.

Sell or return the Olympus lens, and buy a lens intended to work on the camera body that you have.

Fhotoace has given the full technical story as to why Olympus lenses in particular will not work on other SLR bodies.
